For work I went to shoot a property on Great Mackerel Beach. It’s a very small enclave in a national park on the outskirts of Sydney surrounded by bush and water on all sides. The only way in is by boat and the place actually has a real small island feel to it. There are about 100 houses there and no roads, just a winding dirt track that ends abruptly in the bush. There are no restaurants or shops and all food is brought in or grown. Despite being so remote, or perhaps because of it, property prices there are surprisingly high.
The house I went to shoot had been abandoned for 4 years and vines had grown over the whole building, making the shoot a challenge. Still, we got it done and then had a quick look around before catching the boat out.
