I’ve always had high quality lens at the wide end of the scale but never spent money on a good zoom.
So I finally stepped up and bought a proper Canon 2.8 zoom…with the OZ$/US$ exchange rate it was an absolute steal – almost half the price even after import compared to the same model a friend bought 3 years ago…
So I took it down to the beach for a quick test run after work…first impressions are that its bloody heavy but with the right settings it is clearly an exceptionally good piece of glass…

Just as I got down to the water a pod of dolphins came flying past…they were going at an amazing pace and I only got time to fire off one quick burst from a distance as they raced round the Bower…

This guy was hanging out on the cliffs soaking up the last of the suns warmth…

I think he was hoping to get some action but the Mrs was more interested in hugging a branch…

The seagulls around here are pretty hectic if you are eating…
