Underwater

Off the Bower

by on Aug.28, 2010, under Oceans, Surf, Underwater

Went for a snorkel for the first time in a little while…it was damn cold and the u/w vis wasnt that good but loved being back in there…just need the water temp to pick up a bit cos after an hour my hands and feet were pretty numb…

There’s plenty of sealife around including a whale and calf a couple of kms off the Bower…lots of currents running so wasnt too keen on swimming that far offshore, so stayed near the point and found some wobbegongs (small carpet sharks with desert camo markings) to follow instead…

Underwater DSLR housing test 2:Surf

by on Apr.14, 2010, under Beaches, Oceans, Surf, Underwater

Test 2…

North Curl Curl beach: bigger surf (although onshore wind was screwing it) and stronger rips…

Not that happy with the images but damn its hard! Sooo many variables and no control over much of it – particularly focus – as well as many other things but just got to keep trying…

New underwater housing: 1st day out

by on Apr.10, 2010, under Beaches, Photography, Surf, Sydney, Underwater

Bought an underwater housing…took it in the (small) surf and then up to the point for a quick snorkel to test it out today.

I need some more interesting subjects/objects but so far I think it has mad potential…
